Sliding Or Lift-And-Slide?
Both achieve the same basic objective: large areas of glass that slide open.
A lift-and-slide door raises the opening panel slightly from its seals as the handle is operated, allowing very large glazed panels to move surprisingly easily before lowering back into position when closed.

The More Minimal You Want It, The Earlier We Should Be Involved
If you want frames disappearing into floors, walls and ceilings, or a completely flush transition between inside and outside, those details need thinking about early.
Structure, drainage, finished floor levels and weather exposure can all influence what is appropriate.
Done properly, much of the frame can virtually disappear into the building.
Sliding Or Bi-Folding Doors?
The simplest way to think about it is this:
Bi-folding doors maximise the clear opening when they’re open.
Sliding doors maximise the glass and minimise the frame when they’re closed.
Neither is automatically better.
