Not Just For Commercial Buildings.

Curtain walling allows us to create large glazed elevations that conventional windows simply can’t achieve.

Double-height glazing, dramatic glazed gables, floor-to-ceiling glass or an entire elevation overlooking the garden.

It may be a system traditionally associated with commercial buildings, but used properly, aluminium curtain walling can look exceptional in a contemporary home.

Big Glass. Surprisingly Little Frame.

Modern curtain walling systems allow very large areas of glass to be divided by remarkably slim aluminium framing.

On selected systems, visible aluminium sightlines can be as little as:

35mm

That gives us the freedom to create impressive glazed elevations without the heavy framing people often associate with curtain walling. (Schüco)

Depending on the design, options can include:

  • Floor-to-ceiling glazing.
  • Double-height glazed elevations.
  • Glazed gables.
  • Large fixed glass panels.
  • Slim aluminium framing.
  • Glass-to-glass corner options.
  • Double or triple glazing.
  • Opening windows incorporated into the elevation.
  • A huge choice of colours and finishes.

Designed Around Your Home

There isn’t a standard size or layout for domestic curtain walling.

The aluminium framework and glass are designed around the building, allowing us to work with anything from a relatively small feature elevation to large areas of architectural glazing.

Because we work with different curtain walling systems, we can choose the solution that best suits the design, performance requirements and budget of the project.

Big Glass Needs Proper Planning

Large areas of glass need thinking about properly.

Structure, glass specification, solar gain, access and installation can all influence the final design.

A large south or west-facing glazed elevation, for example, may benefit from solar-control glass to help manage heat entering the building.

These aren’t reasons to avoid big glass. They’re simply things worth getting right early.

For domestic curtain walling we usually specify Schüco systems.

Our Process

Good glazing starts with good decisions.

Every glazing project is different, but the way we approach them is consistent. Our process is designed to make the important decisions early, when they are easier and less expensive to resolve.

We specify aluminium systems that best suit the building, the budget and the long-term expectations for the project.

01

1. Initial Conversation

Tell us about your project. Whether you have drawings, planning approval or simply an idea, we’ll listen first and ask the questions that need answering before recommending anything. If you’re a new client, we recommend visiting our factory early on to meet the team and see how we work.

02

2. Quote & Cost Options

Using the information you’ve provided, together with any drawings, we’ll prepare a detailed quotation clearly setting out what’s included and any exclusions. Unless a particular system has already been specified, we’ll recommend the one we believe best suits the project’s design, performance requirements and budget.

03

3. Order & Site Survey

Once an order has been placed, we’ll arrange a site survey. Our surveyors establish datums, measure structural openings and confirm the agreed details. We’ll also work with your builder or contractor to resolve any outstanding issues before manufacture begins. Access, logistics and installation considerations are assessed at this stage, helping prevent expensive problems later.

04

4. Drawings

We’ll produce a full set of working drawings for approval. These incorporate the agreed survey details and, where required, reference site datums so structural elements provided by others are clearly identified and dimensioned.

05

5. Procurement & Manufacture

Once the drawings have been approved, we’ll procure the materials and begin manufacture. We’ll then confirm the expected installation date to suit your construction programme.

06

6. Professional Installation

Before installation begins, we prepare site-specific Method Statements, Risk Assessments and Lift Plans where required. Our experienced installation teams carry out the work safely and in accordance with the approved drawings. We don’t rush work simply to move on to the next job.

07

7. Completion & Aftercare

Once installation is complete, we’ll inspect the finished work, make sure you’re happy with the result and remain available if you need us afterwards. Where applicable, operation and maintenance manuals will also be provided.

For our new-build project, we needed a reliable company to design, manufacture and install all the aluminium glazing. AGS took full ownership of the package, liaising with our architect and builder. We’re absolutely delighted with the glazing supplied and fitted by AGS. From the first survey to final sign-off, communication was clear and responsive. They went the extra mile to resolve a last-minute design change without delaying the project. The doors operate beautifully, feel solid, and the overall finish is outstanding

Peter Guilbert 5 ★

We wanted something a bit special – big slim-framed sliders, a glazed roof and frameless balustrades. AGS talked us through Schuco and Cortizo options and gave sensible advice on budget. The end result is amazing; loads of light, everything feels really solid and the neighbours keep asking who did it
